INDEED A WORLD CLASS SCHOOL. a world class flop. a world class disaster.

i'd think it's a world class failure. the you-know-what-school is giving me the same kind of problem again. i was already pretty upset abt not getting my first choice for my fyp. and i thot the two pple who got my first choice must have really high cap. but later my friend, who i asked to take up the same fyp as me, told me she got the project which i chose as my first choice. but her cap is lower than mine! (i am not trying to do a comparison of caps here, but i don't understand why i'm the one to be sacrificed.) i just feel it's kind of unfair to me.
this is not the first time that you-know-what-school gave me such nonsense. even before i first entered that school, they already made me pissed off. i applied for their scholarship then. and i read it explicitly on their website that the scholarships are given out based solely on academic merit, ie a level results; and there were no interviews required to get the scholarship. at that time, i was already offered an overseas scholarship and a local one, but i wanted the scholarship from that school coz it didn't have any bond. however, i was blatently rejected of the scholarship and the reason i was given was 'my a level results are not good enough' and 'many pple have your results too'. a friend of mine commented, 'there're at most only 20 pple in our batch that got your results, and most of them would have gone to study in more prestigious unis'. so obviously what the scholarship admin pple were telling me is crap. i was simply astounded by the foolishness of the excuses they try to give me, and how unfairly i was treated.
in retrospect, the scholarship didn't matter that much to me then. simply because i had other scholarship offers. it was the way i was unfairly treated and they way pple try to reject the results i produce that provoked me. and now i'm faced with the same unfairness with regards to my fyp. i considered going down to ask them abt it, but i also realized that they will come up with another set of nonsense that would piss me off further. how can they not know that a year long fyp means a lot to each student, and especially one who's keen on going into research as a career?
there're other things which they failed terribly in education. like grades based on a bell curve, which turns students to selfish exam takers. and it also fails to reward an exceptional batch of students with their deserved grade.
then the bidding system for modules, which deprives students of taking modules they want because they didn't have enough bid points. well just open more places to the students! that is how overseas universities provide opportunities for their students. how more dumb can the you-know-what-school get.
number facinators. percentage counters.
their numbers are made up. they are not really the results.
*shrug*
i can't wait to get out of that lousy school.
